I had no idea that a single workout could be so fulfilling. Not just physically, but mentally, spiritually and emotionally. All wrapped up in a perfect hour. I've always had to work out hard to maintain my weight (thank you genetics). Prior to doing Bar Method, I was filling my week with intense workouts including boot camp, extreme ski and sport conditioning, workouts with a personal trainer and running. With that as my history, I was challenged to understand how a class that predominantly uses "one inch movements" could have the kind of impact on my body that I had grown to rely on through my high impact workouts.
Four months of Bar Method carved nearly 3 inches off my hips, 2 inches off my waist, 1.5 inches off each arm and each thigh, 1 inch off each calf, as well as promoted a 10-lb weight loss. Additionally, my posture was much improved, which immediately lifted my confidence and perspective in areas I never even realized I needed.
Bar Method gave me an entirely new lease on working out. The atmosphere is inviting, the instructors and owners remember your name from the first class making you feel part of the family, they care deeply about your form during each workout to ensure you get the most out of every class and avoid injury. The classes are full of incredible women (and a few brave men), who are also investing in their bodies in a thoughtful way. It is an encouraging environment, yet if you have a competitive spirit, I find it also feeds that need. Both from watching others in the class who are perfect in their movement and capable of the "advanced techniques," as well as continued self competition for the progress you seek over time.
I would recommend Bar Method to anyone looking to change their life in a wholly achievable, high results way, that packages a full body workout into a single hour of time. It will change the way you look at yourself, at others, and inspire you to truly live each day. It's by far the greatest fitness time investment I've ever made.
